dum dee dum....

Report cards must get out post haste
In pam's box by eight or I'll be a pile of waste

A paper to write for ED 240
And gym clothes to pack, for this week i'm to be sporty

I observe Thursday morning
Then become the observee
I hate having little warning
How I wish it were not me.

I'm tired and frustrated, angry and spent
Sorry, I really just had to vent.

holiday weekends =)

Lovin' the extra day!! I wish we could have them all the time. Haha, however, despite the fact that we were given 1 more day to do whatever...I managed to get absolutely zero work done this weekend! It's almost like, I knew I had an extra day...so I filled my weekend with other stuff, thinking that I'd still have time to finish...

Friday...I finally did chores...good lord...the bathroom needed to be cleaned like no other bathroom has before...and the laundry, I couldn't see the basket! No worries, I got stuff done on Friday around the apartment that have been on my "to do" list for quite some time.

Saturday...casino it was ;). I met my parents at my grandma's house in San Diego in the a.m., we headed to breakfast all together, and then it was off to "Golden Acorn" casino. Whilst the drive was a bit of a bear, seeing as it was 1 hour down the 8, away from my grandma's house, it was good times =). I took my extra Vegas money expecting to lose most of it...I put$20 in the machine and played with that for nearly 3 hours. Hehe...good times. I then drove back just in time to meet Brian for dinner and "Meet the Fockers". Also good times =).

Sunday& Monday...my new pets have proven to be quite a challenge. I spent the rest of my weekend purchasing more stuff for them and getting their habitat ready for survival in my classroom. They have to be handfed water still because they haven't learned to drink and they're still sensitive to temperature, so I need to be sure to keep them very very warm. *sigh* they need to inform the buyer of the insanity they are getting themselves into BEFORE they purchase the reptile! they are adorable though...and will stay at my apartment on the weekends until they become a bit more independent.

hooray for the 4 day week! =)

rain, rain, will wash us away!

phew, i'm glad this rain is finally taking a break! Luckily, I spent the day at home in Anaheim with my family and didn't have much to do with this crazy weather. Although, my departure time was delayed, waiting for the rain to subside long enough for the water level to decrease, allowing me access to my car! When I arrived back at the apartment, I found a river nearly up to garage. Apparently, it had drained plenty from earlier in the day, as the entire floor in the garage was still wet and slippery. I have not yet surveyed the damage, hoping the boxes on the ground weren't in the path of the flooding frenzy. Thank goodness I'm not on the 1st floor, I would have come back to a flooded disaster here!

I now am the proud owner of two adorable bearded dragons =). Benny and Joon =). Have been contemplating this decision for some time now and finally had the funds to finance such a purchase. While only planning on purchasing one, due to my terrible luck with pairs...I was given little choice when the set-up came with two adorable babies. Every book and "reptile" extraordinaire insists they are much better off with two, since they are very social creatures. We shall see =). My dad was so excited and so willing to donate these reptiles to my classroom, he used his plastic to make this sizeable donation. I think he's really a kid at heart too, and while he can't have bearded dragons for the house...he can buy them for my classroom...and visit them every now and again ;). They are currently in Anaheim, basking in the heat of the lamp, full from crickets, and awaiting their journey to Paramount =).

Mraz...stupendous. His show was incredible as always and once I moved away from the horribly drunk boogers falling over next to me, I enjoyed the show quite thoroughly. =) New songs, great songs, and cute duets filled the sounds of the Ventura theatre nicely. Whilst it was great times with the Mokroopals, Ventura is surprisingly far!

progress...

Well, as far as the resolutions go, I'm trying =). Which is better than I can say for previous years =). I'm really working hard at #5!!! I've kept up for the most part with my grading and planning, at least improving upon my horrible procrastination of it last year. I sent my X-mas decorations packing prior to the end of January! =) This is very deceiving though...it's only the first official week of January ;). Hehe...I have to feel success for at least a little while =).

I've been testing fluency with some intensive kids and I'm hoping it helps. I'm really working hard to try to bring up their test scores, I want them to feel success. It's rought though...I just don't have all the tools to make the necessary diagnosis to treat their learning ailments. argh...as time goes on, I'll get better...but as for now, I'm still struggling and experimenting and questioning all the time. Someday, I'm going to be a kickass teacher...but until then...I'm trying =).

Currently reading Angels & Demons...it's awesome so far...just haven't had much time to read it...trying to shovel some time aside =).

Currently listening to...Death Cab for Cutie "Transatlanticism" and Comas "The Conductor" ... both entirely awesome =)

~Resolutions~

Ok...here we go =)

1. Get an oil change every 3,000 - 4,000 miles (1st change by the end of January)
2. Read at least 1 book every 2 months
3. Clean up this cluttered chaos which I call home!
4. Make the curtains for the kitchen that have been stuffed in the closet for years
5. STOP PROCRASTINATING!

Hehe...ok...so, 1 and 2 I really think I can accomplish. 3 and 4 would be nice, but I've been working on those forever. 5...well 5 is simply in my blood, I don't know how to fix that one ;). We'll see, 2005 could be my year of actually fulfilling the New Year's Resolutions =) hehe...fingers crossed =)

Happy New Year!! =)

It's here...2005! Who knew it would arrive so quickly! Hehe...

The close of my year seemed to fly by...there were so many wonderful celebrations, it almost hard to keep up with the greatness of it all. Friends, family, presents, food...wow, it's amazing what December presents =).

Just back from ringing in the New Year in Las Vegas. Wow. This was year 2 there and still it was a spectacular time. I must say, whilst the setting was familiar it was definitely a trip filled with firsts.
I had my first experience with a blackjack table. Hooray for 21! With the assistance of my wonderful Mokroopals and despite my initial fears and my still very naive sense of play, I was able to leave the table with a profit! yes!
I had my first expereince playing the infamous game of craps. Yes, that's right...despite the fact that I only took the safest bet on the table the entire hour...I still managed to walk away even =). There was soooo much going on at that table, my brain was worn out trying to absord the betting insanity that was taking place!
I had my first expereince at the Aladdin Spice Market buffet. Sweetness!!! That food is delicious with a variety of foods that offer not only good quality, but also a selection that could satisfy any craving. =) I filled up on Tandori chicken, Alaskan king crab legs, lamb, unagi, salmon of multiple sorts, prime rib, fruits, veggies, seafood, and a multitude of desserts =). Mmmmmmm....
I had my first experience actually being drunk. Drunk enough to not remember parts of my night...drunk enough to lose the contents of my previous meal onto the floor, into the trashcan, and on myself...drunk enough to feel like i never want to feel again. I guess that's all part of growing up...hehe...finding your limit and knowing not to cross it ... unless you're ready to face the consequences. While it was oober fun for a bit, I hate feeling sick and not in control. Ick, ick, ick, ick, ick. On the positive side, prior to the hidious pain, I was exuberantly happy and celebrating the New Year with my best buds.

Hooray for the New Year. I can't wait...may it be full of fun, laughter, joy, success, friends and family! =) * woot woot woot*
