Christmas time...

...brings rain, crowds, presents, parties, holiday cheer, x-mas lights, wrapping, wrapping and unwrapping. =)

I always think I have more time than I do and realize how much time I really don't have! There are so many posts I want to add to and update, so many pictures still waiting to be posted as they sit in my camera or in the files of my computer, and so much dust collecting in my home. With work and gift stuff I can't seem to squeeze in the time. I guess there's always tomorrow...=)

Whirlwind weekends...

...are fantastic and exhausting all at the same time.

After such long, hectic, ridiculous weeks at school the weekend is my time to relax and find peace. This was not one of those weekends. Don't get me wrong, I would relive it in a heartbeat! It's nice to get out and have fun with friends and to finally get back to the live music I have come to realize I miss =).

Friday Matt and I went to his friend's birthday celebration. I made Chinese chicken salad, played games, and got a chance to get to know some of Matt's peeps better. Despite the exhaustion, I'm glad I had the opportunity to spend time with such fun, carefree people. =)

Saturday was the surprise John Mayer concert Kress purchased tickets for =). Who knew he'd be playing a show in L.A. anytime soon...let alone one which included him, him, and more him! =) I must say, the Nokia theatre was quite fantastic. Perhaps the newness of the building or the crispness of the seats sold it for me, but I would return in a heartbeat.

Sunday was some work and then Almost Acoustic Christmas. That's right...my first KROQ show which I expected to be wild and crazy and turned out to be pretty tame. Night 2 of acoustic christmas turned out to the night for me =). I knew almost all of the bands and enjoyed every minute of music...my appreciation for the live show has been solidified =). Who was on the bill you ask?...

Spoon (I reallllllly wanted to see them...they were good, but not quite everything I expected)
Feist (we decided to eat during this set, but what we heard was pleasing to the ears)
Silversun Spurs (good despite me not knowing any of their songs!)
The Shins (omg...waaaaay better live! =) I would certainly hit a Shins show again)
The Killers (the secret band of the night...they were amazing, now I see why Matt likes them so)
Modest Mouse (not bad, not my favorite either)
Jimmy Eat World (did not know much of the new stuff, but was on my feet for a few of the classic numbers)
Muse (we left early, but they certainly have an interesting style)

I have a new outlook on work thanks to some very supportive colleagues. There's too much to get done. So, don't stress, get it done another day and live outside of work. The stuff will always pile up and things will always be due. It's OK! Enjoy the people I love and the time I get to spend with them instead of worrying so much about the job. Thank you for the pep talk =).
