Oktoberfest, The Dan Band, concerts, movies, shopping!!!
Aside from the crazy time I'm having at work, I am finding fantastic ways to occupy myself as of late =).
I have just returned from an evening of German beers, loud German bands, whooping and hollering, drunkenness, delicious food, flirting, chicken dances and fantastic company. =) Oktoberfest was always one of those crazy things I'd never imagined going to. It's this outdoor social scene with people lined up outside the gate waiting for entrance into the packed grounds. There is a diverse crowd not only in nationality, but in age as well. Picture an old guy with a cane getting down with the bratwurst and funky music. Hehe...good times. I love having girls night out...those are some of the best nights =).
Who's heard of the Dan Band? These guys are the most hilarious act ever. They do covers of girl band songs, throwing in some different beats, sexual innuendoes, and a peppering of words which should be censored. Jenara and I had reservations right next to the stage which gained us some mic time. Hahahaha...thank goodness I had a few drinks in me already! =) Oooooooh, and my new favorite drink was realized that night...vanilla vodka with Sprite and gobs of cherries. Yum =).
Matt Nathanson again proves he is a true entertainment master. He's hilarious in a very raunchy yet loveable way, he's got this incredible stage presence which few can rival, and he's mighty adorable. =) Kress and I were sitting across from an odd man who managed to record a makeshift setlist for every one of his supposed 150 concerts. Even I am not that insane! The food was pretty tasty and fairly inexpensive (for Coach House prices!). LOL...this is the performance where Matt stopped midset in attempts to distract a girl who apparently was texting all night long! It was to no avail however and she continued to annoy poor Kressler throughout the show...I'm sure karma will catch her if it hasn't already =). Ok Matt, we're ready for another dose of you!!! =)
John Mayer...amazing as always =). This man can get the most boring uninterested idiot on his feet swaying to sweet guitar rifts. Thanks to Kressler I've got memorable photos of from the uberific show she so kindly purchased tickets for. =) Hooray for the Mayer =).
Shriek Fest? What? WHAT? These are my exact thoughts which I very loudly vocalized in the car on the way to a studio in L.A. for the screening of "The Other Side". Thank goodness the movie turned out to be more a thriller than a horror flick, otherwise I would have run out of the screening room and left Kristin behind! First off I never knew there was such a thing as a week long festival of new horror films. Who knew? Plus, when you think screening a movie, you think some small theater in L.A., right? No, it's on the backlot of a studio in L.A. We had to literally drive through props, sets, and soundstages to get to the screening room. An experience to say the least. The movie turned out to be quite good and kept me entertained the entire 84 minutes. Then, after the movie, they had a Q&A. People sitting all around us start getting up to take their spots at the Q&A table. Hehehe...Kristin's fav actor Cory was sitting behind us, the main guy was chatting it up behind us in line prior to the film and crew were scattered about. Interesting experience =).
Hooray for shopping! Although, I do believe I have enough make-up to last me a millenium after these last couple of weeks! I've gone make-up crazy! Shopping lately has been good fun and the company is always nice, much better than shopping all alone. =)
Phew, so as I prepare to wake up in 4.5 hours to volunteer at the MS ride I think of how I wish I could just sleep right now, or how I shouldn't really have had the giant beer, or how I'm so glad I don't have to work tomorrow =).
