Children of the Night Benefit

I purchased tickets to this benefit show with little awareness of anything other than Pete Yorn was playing and I wanted to be there. Little did I know, there was an entire night of music planned, all of whom seemed to have some connection to Pete. Albert was a trooper and stood there the entire 6 hours jamming to some good and some not so good tunes from 9 acts. Yes, that's right, probably the longest concert we've ever attended, definitely the longest encore...

7:00:
Troubadour doors open just as we get in line

7:15:
We find a good location just near the stage right (great spot until the show started and a psycho camera chick leaned over the stage taking pictures feverishly throughout each set!)

7:30-11:00:
Several acts played about 4 songs each, quickly unplugging and exiting the stage, making room for the next who quickly plugged in...
Michael Miller
He had a nice sound, but started the show off a bit slow.
Waz

Sounds great live...I was very excited when I heard he
would be at this show...Mine to Remember was a definite highlight
Flesh Pot
Interesting...I'm not sure what to make of the guy/gal duo.
Phil Cody
Huh?!? Omg, this guy was odder than odd. He had good rhythm, however, the voice and lyrics didn't quite match. He did a lot of bouncing and swaying and shaking ...let's just say he didn't have the "rocker" image...hehe.
Johnny Polonsky
His appearance is what sticks in my mind...the afro, the sparkly shirt, and the gigantic owl necklace...wow.
Minnie Driver

Beautiful in person and one who can hold her own in the music industry. I just may invest in a MD CD.
Jukebox Junkies
This was the first I've heard of this great Trampoline band and it won't be the last. Hands down, this was my favorite "new" act of the night.
Minibar

I haven't seen these guys live for years. They've all grown lots more hair but the sound is still grand. A new record is in the works, can't wait to hear it.

11:00:
Pete Yorn

Finally! The whole point of going for the night. He came on 1 hour later than scheduled, but was well worth the wait.
Here's the set list:
Closet
Nancy
Search Your Heart
Jealous Guy
Maybe I'm Right
For US
Broken Bottle
Just Another
Crystal Village
On your side
Pass Me by
Golden Road
I Feel Good Again
Chain
Lions
Strange Condition
E: all at once (acoustic)
June acoustic
Never My Love (LOVED THIS ONE!)
SameThing
b.I.g.
Murray
There were lots of sing along opportunities...and as you can see, the longest encore I've ever experienced! We didn't leave until 1:00...he played for a whole 2 hours! We absolutely got our money's worth Wednesday night. I could hardly stand any longer and just about every part of me was numb by the nights end...but I guess it was all worth it.

Hooray for awesome concerts!!!!!!!
